Feeding Hope in Belfast — Quirk Employees Support the Soup Kitchen
On May 22, 2022, Quirk Auto Group employees in Belfast gathered with Executive Director Cherie Merrill to present an employee-funded donation to the Belfast Soup Kitchen — continuing a multi-year partnership rooted in shared values and community care.
Why the Belfast Soup Kitchen Matters
- The only soup kitchen/food pantry in Waldo County open 5 days a week
- Serves over 400 meals daily — breakfast, lunch, takeout, and emergency food boxes
- In 2024, served 8,154 individuals (20% of Waldo County's population)
- Provides wrap-around services connecting guests to healthcare, housing, fuel assistance, and SNAP benefits
- Operates with dignity and respect — creating a safe community where neighbors find not just food, but hope
This donation was part of Quirk Auto Group's employee-driven giving initiative, where team members across all locations pool contributions to support the causes that matter most to them. For our Belfast team, the Soup Kitchen is personal — many know families who rely on these meals, or have volunteered in the kitchen themselves.
Thank you for all of those that you help in our community, and all that you continue to do — words that reflect the genuine gratitude our team feels for organizations like the Belfast Soup Kitchen, who show up every single day for Waldo County's most vulnerable neighbors.
This employee donation directly supported meal programs serving over 400 people daily in Waldo County — ensuring neighbors facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals, emergency food boxes, and connections to critical social services.
