Quirk Chevrolet Bangor Backs UMaine's Black Bear Racing Formula SAE Team

Last week brought an exciting look inside the work of Black Bear Racing, the University of Maine's Formula SAE team, with team members Ben Cobb and Seth Dixon showing us around. The team has been hard at work in the Quirk Chevrolet room, space donated during construction of UMaine's new engineering building.

Black Bear Racing's mission is to design, build, and compete with a sleek, formula-style race car against top universities at Michigan International Speedway this May. It's a hands-on challenge that pushes undergraduate and graduate students from across engineering disciplines to apply what they're learning in the classroom to a real, competitive build.

Beyond the car itself, the program gives students a head start on their careers, the chance to work alongside industry professionals, build their networks, and gain experience that translates directly into mobility-related careers after graduation. Quirk Auto Group is proud to support students turning their engineering ambitions into something they can drive.

A donated engineering room and real industry mentorship, helping turn Orono students into tomorrow's automotive engineers.
