Quirk Employees Support Belfast's Thriving Community Theater
In May 2022, Quirk Auto Group employees had the pleasure of meeting with Meg, Artistic Director of the Belfast Maskers, to present a $1,000 donation in support of this beloved community theater. The contribution reflects our team's commitment to investing in the arts and supporting organizations that bring people together through the power of storytelling.
Why the Belfast Maskers Matter:
- Founded in 1987, nonprofit since 1990 — 35+ years of community theater
- Produces 4-5 professional shows annually at The Basil Burwell Community Theater
- Runs youth programs: summer theater camp, afterschool productions, improv classes
- Over 1,500 volunteers have participated since founding — true community theater
The Maskers' story is one of resilience and adaptation. When their waterfront building was demolished in 2011, they didn't disappear—they became "pop-up theaters," performing across various venues for seven years until returning to their permanent home at 17 Court Street in 2018. That kind of commitment to the community deserves support.
Our employee donation helps fund productions, maintain The Basil Burwell Community Theater, and expand youth programming that introduces young people to the magic of live performance. When we invest in the arts, we invest in our community's soul—creating spaces for connection, creativity, and shared experiences that enrich everyone.
Here's to many more standing ovations, talented young performers finding their voice, and the Belfast Maskers continuing to bring stories to life on the midcoast Maine stage. 🎭
This employee donation helps sustain live theater in Belfast, fund youth programs that nurture young performers, and ensure the magic of community storytelling continues for generations.
