Quirky Cruise-In — Cars for a Cause

On August 29, 2026, Quirk Chevrolet of Portland hosted the first-ever Quirky Cruise-In — bringing car enthusiasts, families, and members of the community together in support of the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.

The event welcomed vehicles of all kinds for an afternoon of cars, food, community, and giving back. Admission was simple: a minimum $5 donation or a contribution of pet food or supplies for ARLGP. What started as a community car show quickly became an opportunity for people to rally around a shared cause and help support animals and families throughout Greater Portland.

Why It Mattered

• • ARLGP provides care and shelter for hundreds of animals at any given time
• • Donations of pet food and supplies help support animals in the shelter as well as foster families
• • ARLGP’s Pet Food Pantry helps local pet owners experiencing financial hardship continue caring for their pets
• • Community events create an easy, accessible way for people to support local organizations while coming together with their neighbors

By the end of the day, the community had raised $745 in cash donations and collected 714 pounds of pet food and supplies for ARLGP. Those contributions helped support the approximately 260 animals then in the organization’s care, its foster families, and roughly 500 pets enrolled in its Pet Food Pantry.

For a first-year event, the response exceeded expectations. From the people who brought their cars to those who stopped by, donated, volunteered, or simply helped spread the word, the Quirky Cruise-In showed what can happen when a community comes together around a good cause.

For Quirk Auto Group, the event was about more than cars. It was about creating a place where our customers, employees, and neighbors could come together and make a meaningful difference for an organization doing important work in our community.
